INTRODUCTION TO SAILING

A Short ‘taster’ course for those who have never been on a sailing Yacht before, but would like to give it a try.

Participants will spend an initial period aboard the yacht on the marina for a basic familiarization with the equipment, safety procedures, basic sail handling, how sails work and general nautical terms.
The yacht then leaves the marina berth for a coastal cruise where participants can steer the yacht and trim the sails and experience the joys of sailing!

COMPETENT CREW

The aim of the Competent Crew course is to provide an introduction to the world of sail cruising in a positive and structured manner. The course is as much about getting to grips with living aboard a cruising boat as it is about learning to sail. By the end of the course the sailors should be able to take their place as a competent, safe member of crew aboard a sailing yacht.

No previous experience or knowledge of sailing is required or assumed.

The course consists of 5 days tuition. Participants may return ashore at the end of each day.

These Corporate programs make ideal rewards for your staff, are ideal for team bonding, or are a novel entertainment for Corporate Clients who may be interested in sailing.

MILE BUILDING

During the year, 7-day cruising trips will be organised, typically to Scotland, UK South Coast, Ireland South/Southwest coasts, with the objective of building miles, experience and confidence in preparation for a Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate Practical Examination, under the tuition of a Yachtmaster Offshore Instructor.
On these trips participants will play a full part in the organising and sailing of the yacht during both day and night passages.  Each participant will take charge as Skipper for part of the trip, being in charge of passage planning, navigation, watch rotas and safety.
It is envisaged that approximately 300  miles would be covered in each 7-day cruise.
